PUBLIC WORKSHOPS

Each year we conduct scores of writing workshops for teachers, supervisors, and administrators. Workshops are held throughout the United States in convenient locations, such as hotels, and are open to educators from the surrounding school districts.

We take great pride in ensuring that all of our workshops are both informative and entertaining. Our associates (presenters) are chosen because of their extensive knowledge of K-12 education, their outstanding teaching ability, and their expertise in the field of writing. They also have superb presentation and communication skills and believe wholeheartedly in the lifelong benefits to students that result from using the Collins Writing ProgramSM.

But most important, this workshop gives teachers the help they need to efficiently and fairly evaluate writing so that students become more skillful as a result of the process.

Seven Sentence Building Activities

to Develop Advanced Writers

When correcting students’ writing, do you find yourself seeing fragments, run-ons, sentences that are awkward, make no sense, or have no life, as well as sentences that violate the most basic grammatical rules?  If so, you should attend this Sentence Building workshop. It will allow you to address these problems in a way kids love, and it will allow you to move on to more sophisticated writing issues.

For Teachers in grades 2 through 9 in all subject areas, Curriculum Coordinators, Principals, Supervisors, Curriculum Committee Members, School-Based Management Team Members and Special Educators.

SATISFACTION RATINGS

Between 1986 and 2010, we conducted almost 900 open-to-the-public workshops that were attended by 27,659 participants from 29 states.  In these workshops, we ask the question, “Compared to other workshops you have attended, how would you rate this workshop?”  We use a 1 to 10 evaluation scale, with 1 designated “not effective at all”; 5, “an average experience”; and 10, “one of the best I’ve attended".  Our evaluations have averaged higher than a 9.2 over the past 23 years.
